I asked Sgt Michelle what
fish they were catching and what they used as bait. These are her
responses.

Fred,
The dominant
breed is 8 - 12 pound Carp. The locals actually prefer them over
the catfish believe it or not. The silver fish we catch baffles
even the locals. It is said that Saddam kept his lakes well
stocked for his fishing pleasure. Additionally, there is an
Australian catfish, a fish with the head of a catfish and the body
of an eel. The locals call them evil and will not even put them
back in the water when caught.
There is
nothing to do over here on our off time and fishing has brought
many Soldiers sanity with a little touch of home life.
Respectfully,

Fred,
Additionally, our bait is very simple and one would not imagine
that we are catching fish over here on plain white bread. No
fancy lures. The fish seem to laugh at the sight of a lure.
Thanks for
your support!
