BIOGRAPHY
I've been hooked on fishing since I was 5 or 6
years old when my Grandfather would take me with him every week. That
started the obsession! In 1986 when I was 22, I bought my first new boat, a
16' Seanymph with a 50 horse Merc. Since then I've bought several more and
put in countless hours fishing for everything from Crappie, Perch & Bluegill
to Salmon & Trout (both trolling & drifting for them) to Musky to Walleye to
Largemouths to my personal favorite; Smallmouth Bass. I'm fortunate to live
in western NY, an area that is one of the Best Multi-species Fisheries in
the World! With Lake Erie commonly producing Smallies over 6#s, Walleyes
over 12#s, Muskies to 40#, with the Niagara River & Lake Ontario sporting
Salmon & Lake Trout over 30#, Steelhead & Brown Trout over 20# and Smallies
to 5#s! Where else in the World can you do that?
I started guiding for Smallmouths, Salmon & Trout in 2000 after working on a
trolling charter boat as a first mate four years and guiding on a few
Smallie drift trips. I decided after be prodded by numerous clients, that I
should be become a Captain and start guiding.
I've also gotten bit by the Tournament Bug a couple years ago and started
fishing competitively on the local level. I won two small club tournaments,
as well as placing well in several others. The biggest win was the
Millennium Bassmasters Make-A-Wish Tournament on May 19, 2001 against 79 of
the areas best local teams and following it up with 12th place finish this
year.
Now its time to try competing against the next level; I entered the Citgo
Bassmasters Northern Open on Lake Erie as a non-boater coming up in
September. So I'll still be obsessed, what ever happens!
