Charlie Swimbait - Extreme
Lures
From the time you open the
package of this bait, you know this is a quality product. It looks and
feels so real. I was amazed that the color and feel of Charlie were so
life-like. The pictures that you see on the web site do not reflect the
life-like look and feel. I guess no picture can though.
I tested the 5” Charlie. The only thing that worried me was the weight.
At 1 ¼ oz., it is the heaviest bait that I throw for Bass. The weight of
Charlie had me fooled though. Once in the water, it was buoyant and
unbelievably easy to retrieve.
The 04 Color best matched the baitfish in the pond I bass fish. There
are many colors to choose from so you should find one to match your
area. So armed with the 04 Charlie I headed for the Bass pond. The Bass
have been deep over the past 45 days due to the hot weather, so I was
not sure if this would be a good/fair test of the lure. But I did want
to see it in action. This lure swims, looks, and, with a varied retrieve, will act real. I
was amazed. I tested how Charlie reacted to my actions in the shallow
water. Once I got the swim pattern down, I started around the pond.
The swimming action of this lure is amazing. You will have a difficult
time telling the Charlie from a real fish once in the water. But would
it catch fish?
I had almost made a full circuit around with nothing. As I said, the hot
weather had stalled the fishing in the past 45 days. I was almost back
to the beginning of the circuit when I threw Charlie to the other bank.
It landed about 2’ from shore and I let it settle before starting the
retrieve. I waited about 5 seconds and then started. After 5 cranks on
the reel, the water exploded; my rod exploded. I knew I had a big one
on. |
