Grass Tips

Grass is great. We truly miss our grass in South Carolina. Keep your people from killing your grass.

When the grass is short, spring.

  1. Fish a Carolina rig with a rib worm or lizard.
  2. Use a jerk bait or other reaction bait that runs just above the grass. With the spinner bait, try to just touch the grass.
Fish inside and outside edges, where the grass makes a point or openings in the grass.

When the grass is mid level, early summer.

  1. Pitch a Texas rigged lizard or worm into holes in the grass.
  2. Run a spinner bait so it hits the tops of the grass and pulls through.
  3. Try the same tactics you used for short, spring time grass.

Tall grass, summer and fall.

  1. Pitch a Texas rigged lizard or worm into holes in the grass.
  2. Fish the outside edge.
  3. Small lizards or worms with big sinkers may be needed to penetrate the grass.
  4. Watch your line as it sinks. Some times the grass keeps the bait from sinking to the bottom. If your line jumps as it sinks, jerk. Jerk hard.
