Top water bass fishing is so much
fun but it can be hard to get a bite. Often bass only swirl
at top water baits. So many top water baits are so unnatural,
no wonder bass often take a look and say no thanks. Here are
ways to catch more.
Keep your popping/chugging type bait moving
with only short pauses. Make the bass think your bait is going
to get away if it does not strike now. Make it skitter across
the water.
Vary the length of the pauses. Move it a few
times and see if the bass want it moving or stopped.
After each pop give your bait some slack line
so it can dart sideways or walk.
Try making a lot of noise and try being very
subtle and let the bass say what it wants.
Try a floating jerk bait. Jerk it under water
and jerk it once underwater. Let it float back up. Vary the
cadence.
